The girls walked toward the source of the sound and
as they got closer they could tell it was a flute. They came to the edge
of a clearing where a delightful sight met their eyes: two rows of
dancers clapped and stepped and then raised their arms, taking turns
promenading down between the lines of dancers. The dancers appeared to
be girls about their own age and they wore gowns as lovely and fanciful
as the three cousins'.
The flute player stood just outside the rows of dancers and when
she saw her, Isabella did a double take. "Does that pretty girl playing
the flute really have wings?", she asked Julia.
